My name is Nate Musson and I’m the host, creator and producer of The Not Snowboarding Podcast.
I’m a snowboarder, skateboarder, biker rider, amateur yogi, meditator, rock climber, plant eater, poor excuse for a surfer and – I’m also the founder of Shred Soles Performance Snowboard Boot Insoles.
The skateboarding and snowboarding industry is my life-long passion in both participation and consultation/sales. Nate has 22 years of experience – including retail management/buying, consulting and developing and scaling e-commerce solutions. Nate, his wife Colleen and their newly adopted Siberian Husky, Rayna, live a short walk from a ski resort Southern Pennsylvania. The trio can often be found road tripping up and down the east coast in search of snow and waves.
My goal is to bring interesting long form conversations with people in the snowboarding industry about topics other than snowboarding. Sure, snowboarding will come up from time to time (naturally) -but I’m looking to focus on the business ventures, health and wellness aspects, diet and exercise regimens, altruistic initiatives of snowboarders looking to make the world better place and random crazy stories.
The podcast is also hosted by AJ Lawson –
“You are the Terry Gross of snowboarding.”
Snowboarding, podcasting and radio has a deep personal history for me. My mother would take me to Canaan Valley in West Virginia on the weekends to snowboard when I was younger. The long drive was filled with NPR shows like Wait Wait..Don’t Tell Me!, Fresh Air, Car Guys, All Things Considered, A Prairie Home Companion & everything else the radio had to offer. I was always enthralled with the vast amount of information that could be shared in a long format setting.
My hope for The Not Snowboarding Podcast is to create a lasting impact on everyone who listens to the show. Nate and I are historians, journalists and so much more. No one else has done or is doing what we do. We are in a league of our own. I’m proud to accept the awesome responsibility of sharing snowboarding’s story through the people that make it so great.
Snowboarding is a beautiful place and I’m no longer afraid to be shred outside.
